Garlic and the Witch, by Bree Paulsen
A while ago, I read and reviewed Garlic and the Vampire by Bree Paulsen. I loved this cosy book so much! I was really excited to read the next adventure, and I finally got it from the interlibrary loans. Let’s have a look at Garlic and the Witch!
What a pleasure to fall back into this cosy universe. Right from the start, the illustrations take you in with their warm colours and wonderful details. I love that each page is full of everyday objects that really allow you to imagine what life in this world is like. Garlic is such a cute character and I loved looking at all her different expressions and postures. She is so lively and adorable!
The story moved in an unexpected direction with this book, and it was interesting to learn more about the witch and her magic. The rhythm of the story was a bit stop and go for me, especially because there was a lot of back and forth between different places, but since the setting of the story is so comfortable, each page was still full of surprises and good fun.
I had a really good time reading this comic book and admiring all the beautiful illustrations. It was so fun to see the characters again and to see how they are changing and evolving. I hope you’ll have as much fun as I did reading these two books!

Il y a quelque temps, j'ai lu et commenté Garlic and the Vampire de Bree Paulsen. J'ai adoré ce livre douillet ! J'étais très impatiente de lire la suite de l'aventure, et je l'ai finalement obtenu grâce aux prêts interbibliothèques. Jetons un coup d'œil à Garlic and the Witch !
Quel plaisir de replonger dans cet univers cosy. Dès le début, les illustrations nous happent avec leurs couleurs chaudes et leurs détails magnifiques. J'aime que chaque page soit remplie d'objets du quotidien qui permettent vraiment d'imaginer ce qu'est la vie dans ce monde. Garlic est un personnage très mignon et j'ai adoré regarder ses différentes expressions et postures. Elle est tellement vivante et adorable !
L'histoire a pris une direction inattendue dans ce livre, et il était intéressant d'en apprendre plus sur la sorcière et sa magie. Le rythme de l'histoire était un peu « stop and go » pour moi, surtout parce qu'il y avait beaucoup d'allers-retours entre différents lieux, mais comme le cadre de l'histoire est très plaisant, chaque page était quand même pleine de surprises et de plaisir.
J'ai passé un très bon moment à lire cette bande dessinée et à admirer toutes les belles illustrations. C'était très amusant de revoir les personnages et de voir comment ils changent et évoluent. J'espère que vous aurez autant de plaisir que moi à lire ces deux livres !
