When I was a child, I was completely fascinated by Gustav Klimt’s paintings, all in twirls and golden details. There is something so incredible in his work, and all those years later, I am still awed. When I saw this book, illustrated by Anja Klauss, I had to borrow it from the library! Part of a series of book aimed at introducing children to famous painters and artists, The Magical Tree, written by Myriam Ouyessad, is more than a beautiful hommage to an incredible artist.

This book kept being recommended to me every time I borrowed a book online, so I finally gave it a go and ordered it through the inter-library loans. This week, I’d like to tell you about Hicothea, written and illustrated by Lorena Alvarez.

I am so happy to share this book with you because it is a beloved one from my childhood. I remember spending so much time looking at these pictures and counting all the cats. Without further ado, let’s jump right into The Thirty-Six Cats of Marie Tatin written by Sylvie Chausse and illustrated by François Crozat.

I’ve been a big fan of Júlia Sardà‘s illustrations ever since stumbling upon Mary Who Wrote Frankenstein. I was curious to see what other books she had worked on, and that’s how I discovered The Wolf’s Secret written by Myriam Dahman and Nicolas Digard. I am so excited to share this book with you and have been thinking about it since I received it!

I received another book from Anna Walker, and because I just reviewed another one of her books (Lottie and Walter), I was a bit hesitant to share this one with you this week. However, it is such an adorable book that it must be shared! This week, let’s talk about Peggy, written and illustrated by Anna Walker.

A while back, I shared Florette by Australian illustrator Anna Walker. I loved that book, and so when my friend told me about her latest book, Snap!, I had to see if I could get it through the interlibrary loans. No luck, but I did received a few other books from this illustrator. My favourite of the lot is Lottie and Walter.

I’m not going to lie, this is another book I completely judged by its cover! I mean, this cat space explorer is just too much. I really didn’t know what I was going into with this, but this book is such a fun one! Let me introduce to you Once Upon a Line by Wallace Edwards (I couldn’t find his website, but that’s a link to some of his gallery exhibits).

I’ve had this book on my list for months, and it is finally available through the inter-library loans! I will never stop mooning over this library service. It felt like such a treat to receive Trees, by Tony Johntson and illustrated by Tiffany Bozic. Tree lovers, this one is for you!

My local library is under construction, which means that is has relocated to a church basement. I feel like I’ve spent so much time in church basements looking at books, and it continues! Even if the space is limited and that most books are in boxes, there are a few out and ready to be borrowed. One of them is Chester written by Ayano Imai.

Another week, another great find at the library! The book fairies have been on my side lately, pushing forward lovely albums. This week, I’d like to share Les Cygnes Sauvages by Bernard Villiot and illustrated by Anja Klauss.

This week, I found this lovely book at the library. I was instantly drawn to it because of its aura of tranquility. Planting the Wild Garden by Kathryn O. Galbraith and illustrated by Wendy Anderson Halperin was the perfect book to spend a quiet moment.

Yes, another book illustrated by the incredible Melissa Castrillon is the star this week. What can I say, I just love her style! After Dear Little One and How Beautiful, here is Yellow Kayak written by Nina Laden and illustrated by Melissa Castrillon.

Last week, I shared Dear Little One and got slightly obsessed with the brilliant illustrations by Melissa Castrillón. So of course, I ordered a few of her books from the inter-library loans, and here we are. Today I received How Beautiful written by Antonella Capetti and illustrated by Melissa Castrillón.

I’ve kept this book in my sleeve because it is clearly a candidate for my Best Book of 2022, but I feel like now is the perfect time to share it. Let’s take a look at Dear Little One, written by Nina Laden and illustrated by Melissa Castrillon.

Wild by Emily Hughes is pure fun! I enjoyed every single page and fell in love with the main character. Let’s go!

“What a wonderful book!” This is how I felt after reading Be a Tree written by Maria Gianferrari and illustrated by Felicita Sala, and I am sure you will love it too!

Someone in my bookclub shared a picture of an illustrated cookbook by Felicita Sala, and I really wanted to check it out. Unfortunately, it isn’t available at my library. I was able to find a few of her other books, and The Octopus Escapes, written by Maile Meloy, is one of them. This book is perfect for anyone who loves the sea and its incredible creatures.

A few weeks ago, I shared another of Matthew Forsythe‘s beautiful storybook, Mina. After reading it, I just wanted more of this illustrator’s incredible world, and I just received Pokko and the Drum from the library. I really enjoyed Mina, but I think I love this book even more!

Another surprise discovery made at the library! The Laughing Willow by Pog and Maurèen Poignonec is a mischievous and adorable book that will make you want to find a tree-friend too!

This week, when I went to the library, I browsed some of the few books that are on display: everything is packed up because there are some renovations coming soon. I look forward to seeing the brand new library, but in the meantime, I was lucky enough to find this adorable and funny book: Cat Knit, by Jacob Grant.
